Traveling to Lublin

The best option is to choose direct flight to the Lublin Airport in Świdnik, however, it currently has only a few directions in its offer.

Second best way is to choose the Frederic Chopin Airport in Warsaw – the capital city of Poland. Both public and private transport connections between Warsaw and Lublin are well developed.

  • Lublin Airport in Świdnik
    The Lublin Airport in Świdnik is located within 15 km from Lublin city. You can take train, bus or taxi after arrival – travel takes approximate 20-30min.For more information see the: http://www.airport.lublin.pl/en/
  • Frederic Chopin Airport in Warsaw
    Lublin can be easily reached from the Frederic Chopin Airport in Warsaw, which is the main international airport in Poland. After arrival, students are advised to exchange about fifty euros into Polish currency (that is about 200 zł) for immediate expenses, such as e.g. tickets, taxi etc. Currency exchange point are called “kantor” and are located directly at the Warsaw Airport.

From the Frederic Chopin Airport to Lublin: 

  • By minibus from the Airport
    Students can use minibus service departing from Terminal 2 coach bay on the Frederic Chopin Airport. It is situated just across the Arrivals Hall level exit. The bus stop is on the left hand after passing the zebra crossing. Cost of the minibus from Warsaw to Lublin is about 50 zł – the ticket can be bought at the driver (Usually it’s not possible to pay by card in a bus).
  • By train
    From Frederic Chopin Airport in Warsaw you can take bus no. 175, or N32 (night bus service) to get to the “Dworzec Centralny” – the Main Railway Station in Warsaw. Ticket for this bus can be bought in newsagents at the airport (kiosk where you can buy newspapers, magazines etc.) – price of single-fare ticket: 2,20 zł for students, 4,40 zł for adults. Note, that students ticket (with 50% discount) may be bought by “students of foreign universities and secondary schools up to their 26th birthday – upon presentation of a valid ISIC card (International Student Identity Card)”. After about 30 min. you should get off at “Dworzec Centralny” bus stop, go through subway under Jerozolimskie street to the train tickets hall where you can buy a train ticket for your journey to Lublin. You can also buy a ticket online: https://www.intercity.pl/en/site/for-passengers/buy-a-ticket/ There is a direct train connection between Warsaw and Lublin, departing nearly every two hours. The journey by train usually takes 2 hours 20 minutes. Ticket costs 31 zł for adults. You can buy a ticket with student discount if you have a valid student card.

  • By minibus from the Warsaw city centre
    Students can reach Lublin also by minibuses leaving from the area near Warsaw main railway station “Dworzec Centralny” (it is cheaper than directly from the airport). At the F. Chopin Airport you have to take the bus no. 175. Ticket for this bus can be bought in newsagents at the airport (kiosk where you can buy newspapers, magazines etc.) – price of single-fare ticket: 2,20zł for students (with valid ID student card), 4,40 zł for adults. Note, that students ticket (with 50% discount) may be bought by “students of foreign universities and secondary schools up to their 26th birthday – upon presentation of a valid ISIC card (International Student Identity Card)”. After about 30 min. on 175 bus, you should get off at “Dworzec Centralny” bus stop (Central Station will be on your left hand). To find terminal of minibuses, you have to go off the 175 bus when it will be standing before Marriot Hotel (with Central Station and Palace of Science and Culture at your back) – then go straight (on the right side of the hotel) – it will be written “Contbus” stop at the small Hotel’s parking. Ticket costs 25zł (student) and 30zł (adult). There are more less two-three buses in an hour – in approx. 30 minutes each. “Contbus” goes directly to Lublin – the last stop in Lublin is on the parking in front of the Lublin Castle.   • By coach “Flixbus” from the Wilanowska Station or Warsaw city centre
    At the F. Chopin Airport you have to take the bus number 331. Ticket for this bus can be bought in newsagents at the airport (kiosk where you can buy newspapers, magazines etc.) – price of single-fare ticket: 2,20 zł for students, 4,40 zł for adults.Note, that students ticket (with 50% discount) may be bought by “students of foreign universities and secondary schools up to their 26th birthday – upon presentation of a valid ISIC card (International Student Identity Card)”. The bus no. 331 goes directly to the Wilanowska Station – you have to get off on the last bus stop. While arriving on the Wilanowska Bus Station you should look around to find terminal of Flixbus – it has very characteristic and hard to miss modern green buses. Tickets must be booked earlier (on-line via https://global.flixbus.com website). Price of a ticket depends on the day and hour of booking – the sooner, the cheaper. Prices are from 2zł up to 35zł approximately. Travel takes 3,5 hours and the last stop is on the main Bus Station in Lublin (next to the Lublin Castle).   • Taxi – It is very expensive way of travelling between cities but if you can afford to pay about 600–800PLN it may be the most comfortable option for you (set down the price before!).

Health and accident insurance

International exchange students who are nationals of a Member State of the European Union, of the European Economic Area or Swiss nationals will be able to benefit from the European Health Insurance Card, which has to be obtained before departure from the corresponding home country.
